JAILBREAK 5.1 UNTETHERED [CONFIRMED]: UPDATED

JAILBREAK 5.1 UNTETHERED [CONFIRMED]: UPDATED INFORMATION, STATUS, LINKS:

Update 6:
iPhone Hacker Pod2g is cool man! On Twitter today Pod2g announced that over the weekend the jailbreak developer found 2 big vulnerabilities: 1 kernel-land and 1 root-land. These are vulnerabilities that could allow for injecting packets of code into memory reserved for the operating system and for privileged users respectively, and may be important groundwork for a working jailbreak in the coming months.
JAILBREAK iOS 5 STATUS:
Date: 30th, April 2012

* Jailbreak A5 Devices (iPhone 4S, iPad 2) [5.0.1]

Update 5:

Update 4:
For those of us following Pod2g’s 5.1 jailbreak saga, we have some more good news. It seems that Apple’s latest Address Space Layout Randomization scheme wasn’t as tough to break as anticipated. Pod2g announced on Twitter this morning that he was able to bypass ASLR. The next step of the project is to execute code on the unjailbroken devices using a ROP payload. The goal of which is to allow software to write to the phone’s kernel memory.
Update 3:

Update 2:

Update 1:
Greenpois0n.com:
“I’m sure many reading this post are aware that with the geohots A4 limera1n exploit it’s always possible (and quite simple) to jailbreak each new version that is released with relative ease. What isn’t easy is finding an vulnerability for an untethered exploit, and sometimes, massive software changes require a lot of work to achieve cross compatibility with a reasonable range of software versions. As of right now the jailbreak for 5.1 on the AppleTV is limited to a tethered jailbreak, yes I am aware that Stefan Esser (@i0n1c) has an untethered exploit, I don’t know any further details, and am not certain of whether or not he intends to share his research. The tethered jailbreak is only part of the problem, right now we are still busily sorting out legacy and compatibility issues to make sure all roads still go through beigelist when loading third party appliances. I’m not certain how long it will take to merge the differences between beigelist and espresso, hopefully, not much longer. That being said you should all give thanks and praise to two brilliant developers that have been involved with the AppleTV community for a very long time. Brandon Holland (@640774n6) and Dustin Howett (@DHowett), if you run into either of these fine gents or follow either of them on twitter you should show them some love
There is still work to be done, there are some bugs to sort out, however I can report that nitoTV works about 95%, XBMC is broken, and I’m uncertain of the status of all of the firecore products, I know they are progressing along nicely, but I can’t comment any further than that.
There isn’t much to say about this jailbreak, so I’m going to move on to the final topic, which I am going to cover very briefly.”

Unlock iPhone 4 / 4S with SAM Has Been Closed

Some guys over iDB are confirming that the iPhone SAM unlock is no longer available. It looks like that Apple has fixed the loophole which SAM relied on to unlock iPhone on any baseband.

We noticed that some of our fans are also claiming the same issue. So we hope that all of you have managed to unlock your iPhone in the last few days. If you one of them, so we highly recommend to backup your unlock using Redsn0w.
Why I make a backup of my SAM unlock? Well, this backup will let you able to unlock your iPhone at anytime if jailbroken, even if you restore your iPhone.
So far, iPhone Dev-team doesn’t officially confirm this bad news, we are trying to contact them to get an official word, stay tuned.

Updated SAM 0.1.16-1 Unlock tutorial easier than ever

@sbingner has updated the SAM package to make the SAM unlock method even easier. We have had several reports of successful unlocks on our previous SAM unlock tutorial, but we also had an equal amount of people who could just not get it to work. Hopefully the updated version of SAM will help you finally get your device unlocked!
The best part about the updated SAM package is that you no longer need iTunes and most importantly, you don't need to worry about your country/carrier and SIM IDs anymore(which seemed to be the biggest issue for people using the initial tutorial).
Step 1: Install Sam Bingner's SAM package from Cydia. You can get it from Sam's repo which is http://repo.bingner.com make sure to use the newest version(0.1.16.-1 at the time this tutorial was created).
Step 2: Deactivate your phone(Using SAM) and insert your unofficial SIM card that you wish to unlock to.
Step 3: Open SAM and change method to "Auto Detect" and then go to the "Utilities" tab and choose the utility "Attempt Activation."
Step 4: That's all there is to it, your device should respring and your should have signal on your unofficial SIM. Pretty simple huh?

KNOWN ISSUES:
Just like the initial tutorial there are known issues with this new method. If you complete the steps above and you receive an error(specifically You must select the original carrier SIMID of your iPhone), attempt the following to fix the issue:
Step 1: Remove the SIM card from your phone.
Step 1: Download, install and open iFile and navigate to /var/root/Library. Tap edit in the upper right-hand corner and select the Lockdown folder. Tap the zip button to backup all the files in your lockdown folder and then delete the lockdown folder(make sure the backup is still in tact).
Step 3: In iFile again, navigate to /User/Library/Preferences and search for SAM(at the top) and delete the com.bingner.sam.plist file.
Step 4: Power off your phone and then turn it back on.
Step 5: Insert your unofficial SIM card.
Step 6: Open SAMprefs go to Utilities and tap Attempt Activation. You will receive a dialogue stating that it may take a while. After your phone resprings, you should have signal on your unofficial carrier.

As always, please report below if you have tested this method and whether it worked or not as well as information about your device and carrier. Thanks!

HackStor: A Cydia Store For Your Mac

Too many Apple users jailbreak their devices in order to get Cydia on their devices as they will get a great chance to install jailbreak tweaks and apps without needing to pay for it, so Cydia became one of the most greatest things that you will ever see until this day The underground app store has withstood the tests of time and competition to become the de facto source for apps, themes and utilities that aren’t allowed in the official App Store. But today we have got some good news for Mac users as a new website similar to the App Store have just surfed on the web called HackStor which gives you the ability to install programs, iFunbox, TinyUmbrella and more on your Mac.

That’s not all also HackStor comes with popular apps like Gimp, a well-known open-source photo editing application, and OpenOffice, which is an open-source MS Office-like software suite. Also games yeah Counter Strike, and popular games for your Mac that you had to pay for it in order to play it, with HackStor you will enjoy the free apps without needing to pay it.
What I want to say that HackStor is very similar to the official Mac App Store the same apps, the same design and interface.
For a first go-round, the HackStore is pretty impressive. It’ll be even more so if it can manage to stick around and gain developer support the way that Cydia has. But it’s not like it doesn’t have competition. Bodega, a similar solution, has been around for quite a while.
So what are you waiting for ?! Get your chance and download HackStor on your Macbook Pro from  the official website. Remember, it’s for Mac users only.

iOS 5.1 Untethered Jailbreak Status Update [Pod2g Announces ETA]

Everyone is waiting on pins and needles for an iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak, but it seems it will take some time to be a public release, we already know Pod2g have found all the required exploits to do a new Jailbreak and he is working on bypassing ASLR (Address space layout randomization) at boot up.

We’ve got a status update in thread of tweets from Pod2g throw his Twitter account telling jailbreakers who’s waiting for the iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak release date that an ETA for public release won’t be anytime soon, it will take one month or two even more.
“ETA for 5.1 JB : no clue! We’re going to set pieces of the puzzle together this week. We could have issues… Could be 1 month maybe 2… Maybe never… (!)

I know 1 month seems long, but it’s short to work on a project like this when it’s a hobby and you’ve other things to do as well.”
As most if us know, making jailbreak it’s not the job they’re paying their bills from, it’s just a hobby and they have their own full-time jobs and they do jailbreak in their free time, and it’s not an easy thing to do since the latest security iOS updates. So, it will take some time. We can do nothing but wait and give them some time.
Keep your fingers crossed for the best and we will keep you updated.
Stay tuned !

Join Pod2g And i0n1c In iOS 5.1 Untethered Jailbreak Video Hangout

We’ve got you some great news about the progress of Jailbreaking iOS 5.1 Untethered. Of course the jailbreak community can’t wait to jailbreak their iDevices running iOS 5.1.

Earlier we informed you that Pod2g have found all the required exploits to do a new Jailbreak and he is working on bypassing ASLR (Address space layout randomization) at bootup.
Now two famous hackers Pod2g and i0n1c had a long Twitter conversation arguing about the reason why i0n1c haven’t released his 5.1 untethered jailbreak yet and apparently he wants to make some money from his work and if he released the long-waited jailbreak, it won’t be for free as it is now.

In case you are not following, i0n1c have successfully jailbroke his newly iPad 3 running iOS 5.1 a day after it released. but he didn’t released his jailbreak to the public.

Check iOS 5.1 Untethered Jailbreak Video:

Later on, famous iPhone Dev-team member MuscleNerd suggested a Google+ live video hangout this week instead of Twitter and its 140 provoking character limitation to make it easier and more useful conversation between him and i0n1c and Pod2g.Telling that Pod2g and i0n1c have lots of interesting topics to talk about.

Of course any of you can join the live video hangout, all you need to is having a Google+ account to be able to join them, if you don’t have an account yet then create the account right away and join them later on this week.

Pod2g Close To Release An Untethered Jailbreak On iOS 5.1

Many people are waiting for the iOS 5.1 Jailbreak to be released. However, finding a vulnerability in the new Apple operating system has been a difficult task to achieve recently. Developers are working on finding the right loophole that will enable them to make a new Jailbreak for devices running on iOS 5.1. Well we heard some good news from Pod2g when he tweeted about having all the exploits required to do a Jailbreak, and so it appears that he almost nailed it.

Jailbreak ios 5.1
We have been following the news about developing a Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 for quite a while now.Giving you recent updates for the work of Pod2g as well as Chronic and iPhone Dev Teams. We told you before that the new jailbreak is still far from release to the public and is still in demo version being tried by developers.
Pod2g tweeted the news on his account this Wednesday :
Pod2g tweet
This actually means a lot, because having gathered all the exploits needed to Jailbreak the device tells us that we can rest sure , a new Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 will be out soon. The fact that they are working on bypassing ASLR is actually brilliant. ASLR is an abbreviation for “Address space layout randomization” is a security method used to prevent Jailbreaking the device. An obstacle for any attacker, but apparently not to these guys.
